Found Footage Music Videos is a teaching resource I developed that gives children their first hands-on experience with the craft of film editing. It consists of a booklet and an accompanying teacher's guide. Music videos as a genre and the use of existing footage as a creative technique allow for a simple entry point: the songs chosen by the children themselves provide the entire soundtrack, and the found footage provides all the visual material, so that the they can focus entirely on the editing. A central concern was to remove as many barriers to use as possible for both students and teachers. The suggested software Shotcut is free and runs on all common operating systems. Students only need a computer, an internet connection and the booklet — and can get started right away.
